I mean, the GB Color and Advanced didn’t have them. The Advanced just added L and R, and the SP was the same, but more compact with a backlight.

So, there’s these newer style “hall-effect” keyboards that use magnets to detect how far you’ve pressed the key in.

So if you wanted you could map throttle to the spacebar and control speed by how hard you press the key.

Doesn’t completely solve the driving issue but it’s a step.

GameBoy SP was the perfect handheld. It fit easily in your pocket. It had color. It had a backlight. Everything after is just chasing screen size.

Basically the district he’s in now issues iPads. All course work is done on them through a mix of Canvas, Google Docs, and some websites. We talked with the school and had a thing where he’d have to leave it there and check it out in the morning cause he couldn’t be trusted with it.

This has been a major problem for my kid. They don’t even lock down the iPads they issue so they just do whatever. So when my kid is failing classes because he’s not doing assignments in class and it turns out he’s just on YouTube all day, it’s like why the fuck are they even able to get on that in the first place? Doesn’t matter how tightly I restrict technology at home when his school just says fuck it.

Good write up. This is something I’ve been putting off because of how irritating Calibre is to setup.

For Audible audiobooks, I’ve been using Libation, which I’ve found super simple to use. When it pulls the books it strips DRM automatically. It also allows for downloading any attached PDF files for audiobooks with illustrations like Sanderson’s novels tend to have.

They of course added the asterisks to avoid liability because you know that’s how companies will actually use it.

Steam is one company and is the exception to the rule. Steam also can’t run on consoles and not everyone wants to build a PC, has the time, or the know how. Plus with part prices these days building something may be too costly. Gotta consider the average consumer, and I have the feeling that the kind of person who uses federated social media is more technically aware than most.
