While just running better for most of the tasks I do (and being more customizable) are a huge plus. I am also personally sick of the way Microsoft (and most other large corporations) do business. So Linux is my way to do what I can to not support them and move towards a better future.

3·8 months agoJust as a quick psa it doesnt look like the update has hit the F-Droid repos yet it probably will soon but if you are a new user downloading from there you might not have the redesign quite yet. (Github ofc has the apk for the impatient)Edit: It is now in the fdroid repos.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is there an easy way to remotely monitor another person's pulse?
8·1 year agoTo add to this iirc all cell towers will take 911 calls even if a phone has no sim. So if you truly only will ever use it for 911. You should be able to buy the cellular version of the watch and not even have to add it to your phone plan.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Will kernel-level anti-cheat ever work on linux?English
13·1 year agoAFAIK the current anticheat systems on Linux only run in userspace not at kernel level. This does mean Linux is theoretically easier to bypass compared to windows, some games just dont seem to want to take that risk. For as you said 3% of the market.
I personally disagree with that stance though, because all it takes is a hardware device and all software anticheats are useless no matter the os (think a raspberry pi, and capture card). So anticheat is really a losing battle anyways.
They are both good options. The general way I break it down is:
Is this your first Linux PC? Bazzite
Is this a home theater PC or other console like device? Bazzite
Do you have a lot of specialized hardware that needs custom drivers / kernel modules? CachyOS
Do you want to be able to more easily customize parts of the os? CachyOS
Obviously not every case is covered here but hopefully that gives you a bit more of an idea of what each distro is better at. Performance wise they are nearly identical, tbh the biggest difference is that Bazzite is an atomic distro and CachyOS isn’t.
