I once got banned from some weird parenting subreddit I’d never visited because I said cheeseburgers aren’t kosher, some mods are just freaking weird (or bots.)

This is tinfoil hat stuff, but based on the ads I’m shown, it’s almost like they pick ones they know won’t appeal to you since they know anger drives up engagement. Google can probably guess from my search history that I’m trans and asexual, since I’ve asked questions online relating to that. And then the majority of the ads I get on YouTube are porn and anti trans things.

Pretty much stopped using it once they decided my 20 year old account must belong to a child and demanded my ID. (Still don’t know why that happened. The account itself is over eighteen and I don’t live in the US where that policy was supposed to take effect.) This doesn’t make it any more appealing.
I remember when you just had, like, banner ads and an ad next to the video. And now you get those gross ads for AI sexbots and stuff.
And I really don’t think the latter is just because of my own search history. I’m asexual and don’t look at porn sites. I also noticed an uptick in the sex ads after YouTube decided I was a minor, so that’s pretty freaking weird.
Then I also get far right ads about how trans people are terrible, that are basically hate speech and propaganda.
I wish other platforms for long form video content existed.

I got permabanned a while ago. In the time since, I’ve moved to a new country and gotten all new devices. Made a new account with a new email address to try to join local subs in the new area.
That account was banned a couple hours later for ban evasion. I had made zero comments or posts and hadn’t joined any of my old subs. After that, I assumed they just have an AI that auto bans a chunk of new accounts “just in case”, because I genuinely have no idea what they could have done to connect the two accounts to each other.

I’ve stopped using YouTube for the most part. Cut down a lot once they broke the search function and I could no longer find what I was looking for because every result would be flooded with random shorts and other irrelevant content.
Then, my account, which was made in either 05 or 06, got flagged as belonging to a minor and they asked me to verify my age with an ID. Why this even happened when the account itself is over 18 now, and I’m not in the US (which I thought was the only place their age verification BS was being implemented) is beyond me.
I wish there were more options for long form video sharing, since YouTube seems to be the only viable platform for it at the moment.

What’s wrong with Brave?/gen I keep seeing positive comments about it, so there must be something I don’t know.

Game was eighty dollars, which I thought was too high. And, yeah, maybe a bot decided I meant the other Luigi.

Started on a big meme sub. We disagreed about if Mario Kart World was overpriced. He went to my profile, found out I was trans, and got really mad.

A user followed me from sub to sub to call me slurs, using alts when I blocked them so that they could continue. I reported them and got permabanned for “abusing the report button”. Everyone else in my household was then also kicked off the platform.

Looked into it a bit, and it was pretty wild the number of commenters who took this seriously. When the “suicide” discussion contained dialogue like:
“She is no more more.”
“NOOOOOOOOOOOO! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”
And the “dead” mod was playing Minecraft hours after they supposedly died.

Guess it’s good they already banned me for reporting bigots.

Countdown to ID verification requirements.

And a fork makes a terrible electrician.

Dunno why this is worldwide, then. Why should I have to comply with what some states in the US want when I’m not even in the same country, and my country has none of these age verification laws? Whole world shouldn’t have to give up their privacy just because Tennessee said so.

Notorious terrorist, Budget Chicken.

I mean, this place is quite a bit further left than Reddit. A lot of leftist stuff on Reddit started getting banned after Elon got his fee-fees hurt over people mocking DOGE.
And, it’s kinda weird that the last straw was the anti-fascism rather than the creeps.

They pulled Tumblr over cartoon porn, but using AI to sexually abuse actual women and children is all good, apparently.

“We need guns in case of tyranny!”
(Tyranny happens.)
“You are now banned for discussing guns!”

I just logged in FFS.
The last time I checked was a couple months ago, and you couldn’t access it without logging in, or if your account is banned. (And, as far as I know, they’re still permabanning accounts at random in massive waves.) So, unless that’s all changed, you can’t.
Only way I can look stuff up on there now is with an app called RDX for Reddit.
