  • I have a really simple setup since I don’t really do content creation or music or anything really needing a quality microphone. I use the Drop/EPOS pc38x with the velour ear pads. As far as gaming headsets or just headsets in general, the sound quality is really good. Actually pretty decent mic for a headset, comfortable, braided cable, volume knob. Can’t complain.

If I had more money I’d look at proper headphones and a standalone mic, but for 200 (160 when I bought them) it’s solid. I personally don’t like Bluetooth peripherals, wired gives the lowest latency and don’t have to bother charging or having the batteries eventually needing replaced if they’re even user replaceable. And not to mention not needing any bloatware to use. Just plug n play

  • I agree… although I also understand people who feel the other way. As a top guy in the company the money he gets is going to be usually much more than an employee and for just existing at the top. So it feels more like company money than someone getting paid for actually putting in the grunt work to keep the company running. Not to mention that nobody is talking about mullvad and the ideology of random coder #26, the actions of the cofounder is always going to be in the same sentence as mullvad. So I understand taking a stance to not feed into that.

However I don’t agree with the moral superiority stance that often (not always) comes with that viewpoint. By all means boycott them yourself but I’m not one to push that on others unless it is actually the company itself donating or if their views start poisoning the quality of the service they provide (brave for example)

  • And their kids are not my problem. I had a vasectomy I did my part. I don’t want the responsibility of raising and protecting a kid so I’m not having one… The government’s part if anything is to invest in educating parents on how to protect their kids online in the modern age, and use the slew of parental controls available on every platform. If you’re going to buy your kid a $1,000 device with internet access, you should probably like actually monitor what they do with it. The same as you do. If you have alcohol in the house or firearms in the house or anything else that’s potentially dangerous in the hands children.

  • There were announcements and security ping in the arch Linux community discord… But I wish they’d be more vocal on this outside discord especially given discords controversy as of late

Update: they finally posted about it in the arch news feed last night… A bit late but better than never. Npm removed the malicious package, but then the bad actors started using bun instead…

As others have proposed, I really think that orphaned packages should require a moderator of the aur to approve the commit and acquisition of an orphaned package. Currently nothing stops someone from spinning up accounts and hijacking these abandoned projects

People with dual boot are more likely to have games on NTFS and think that they can use them under Linux and not realize that just because some people get lucky with it for a while does not override the fact that the proton GitHub itself says do not use NTFS for the previously stated reasons
