I’ll toss it when I toss my plastic tupperware. The problem is re-usability, not what it’s made out of. SD card gets tossed out, doesn’t matter what it is made out of, it’s going to pollute.
But it has the benefit of not breaking down into micro plastics and getting into every part of everyone.
