I strongly believe a Bear would easily win. It has stronger Attack and Defence.

It has massive claws and will shred open a gorilla’s unprotected skin with it’s claws and teeth.

A gorilla has very little in terms of defence and that will be its downfall, it also only really has its teeth to attack with, and a Bear has thick skin to protect against that.

I don’t see how a Gorilla could deal a fatal blow to a bear before the bear would rip deep wounds into a Gorilla with it’s claws and teeth causing it to bleed out.

I could see a gorilla choking a bear out though, the bear isn’t going to be able to strangle the gorilla from behind.

Do… gorillas choke out anything in the wild? I feel like training either animal in Krav Maga or Ninjutsu puts your thumb on the scale.

I don’t know, but they’re physically capable of it. I once had an anthropology professor who demonstrated the difference between simian-like arms and quadruped-like arms, and the major part of it was noting that you’ve never seen a cat spread their arms out like the Vetrivian Man (they can’t). In the evaluation of ape vs. bear combat I don’t want to discount the capability of the ape to grasp, latch on or choke.

I don’t think primates choke at all in the wild, and I don’t think it’ll be the most effective method either.

When your opponent has claws and long teeth waiting for them to pass out while they dig their claws into you might not be the best strategy

We are primates, and when we put all the martial arts together (MMA) it turns into a match of who can get on top of and neutralize their opponent. A bear doesn’t have any way of attacking a primate if the primate can get to its back. As a human, we wouldn’t have the dexterity or strength to get around, cling onto a bear and choke it out, but a bear-sized gorilla probably could and once it does that it’s neutralized every mode of attack the bear has except writhing around and pushing it into other objects.

If MMA fighters had big jaws with teeth, and long sharp claws I don’t think wrestling would remain the best tactic.

Your opponent isn’t just going to turn their back on you, and if you try and grab them they can bite and hold on to you, and start clawing open deep wounds.

Can you even choke out a bear? I mean I know technically it’s possible but I would imagine their neck is a little more protected then ours.

In absolutely no scenario does the gorilla not just obliterate the koala bear. I don’t understand how you think they might even be a little matched in strength?
