Excellent choice of games. 10 out of 10 no notes.
I stopped play league of legends after Vanguard started requiring changing some things in BIOS, but there werent tutorial how to do this on my motherboard. This game doesn’t even support Linux. LOL
advantage of single player games is:
No need to deal with matchmaking (especially if its shit)
No need to wait for any server to fill up (usually most games they are 24/7,but for smaller servers or you dislike the matchmaking it’s annoying)
Lower chance of P2W microtranscations.
Am not gonna say this is a good or bad thing: Microtranscations.
The advantage of multiplayer games:
Replayablity.
(In-built) Communication(via VC or Text chat)Singleplayer / local gamss are LOVELY, but I think we can have good multiplayer experiences too.
EDIT: Kernel level malware requirements and monolithic matchmakey server structures suck though. None of that.
When I was an awkward teenager without a way to just go across town, I played lots of games and risked using voice chat as a way to build my social confidence. I try really hard to be a positive and cooperative player though. I met more cool people than not.
For a while there, I think Deep Rock Galactic found a cool way to foster a cooperative community, it was designed really well for it. Sweaty tryhards who accuse you of the wrong meta play just about anything though.
One of my favorite recent experiences though is just playing the co-op defense mode in Titanfall 2. That is SO FUN.
I sucked at leveling in WoW because I mainly used it as a chat room once the grind kicked in. Never got to 60, but found a wife, so I’d call that a win. :)
We’re in a lonliness epidemic. Everybody is so depressed, friendless, and is simultaneously convinced they’re the only tolerable creature in a sea of imbeciles. (Social media and customer service jobs definitely exacerbated this.)
But…I dunno, I guess I’m just making the case multiplayer can be done right and bring us together. Eliminating private servers that could police their communities I think had a negative effect. That leaves community moderation to, what, Discords? Blegh.
And how MMOs now feel like grocery shopping at 3 AM, where everybody’s wearing headphones and hesitant to make eye contact. It’s sad.
Does a “Christian-run Battlefield 2142 server” sound silly? Maybe it does. But know what? Those people were nice to me and we had a great time.
Yeah I think playing pickup games in whatever e-sport live-service slop these days is gonna expose you to a lot of unnecessary toxicity, but I think we also need good multiplayer games more than anything else, to supplement our single player experiences, because people are losing their ability to connect and relate to each other on basically every level.
People move away from each other. They get busy. They’re afraid to talk to strangers but suddenly everybody’s a stranger. It sucks.
…and it’s literally killing us.
Thanks for reading my unintentional article. Lol
IDK why but what you’ve written has made me miss Ian parties. Those were the days man.
Aw thanks for reading it. :) Yeah I miss LAN parties too!
I fondly remember, in my high school computer lab all the machines were networked, so we’d play a lot of Battlefield Modern Combat mod, or Unreal Tournament, or Counterstrike 1.6 (I was so glad when they picked up Source hahaha). They even had Battlefield 2142 with a little hack that unlocked full progression because it was local only.
I have a sad feeling such a thing just wouldn’t be a thing anymore. Schools would be way too strict wouldn’t they?
It was really cool when like most of the 20-30-something machines were occupied and people were bantering and taunting each other. “WHO IS (username)?!?!” Lol
Got the Hades games for $12, they are my current jam.
Never understood the point of online multiplayer games. Gaming is what I do to escape from other people.
Besides if I want to get called a f****t, I’ll just kiss my husband in public.
Say no to live services
LOL, I have no talent. Every time I tried a multiplayer game, I immediately got turned off by the omnipresence of microtransactions and the hostility of the people on there who do nothing else with their time. What I have is the wisdom to recognize I don’t need that crap in my life.
Peaceful life.
Looks inside
God of WAR
Have never had any interest in playing multiplayer games, (except coop with actual IRL friends, which is obviously amazing)
Why would anyone want to play against strangers on the internet? Sounds just really stressful. No thanks
Word, my favorite way to game, it is peaceful
I think of Guild Wars 2 as an intersection between the two. I basically play it as a single player game. The only social content I engage in is open world group events, and then I go back to being a loaner when they’re over.
I’m hoping Guild Wars 3 uses the same formula.
As a single player enjoyer who mostly plays soulslikes and old school games it isn’t all that peaceful sometimes.
Especially when a Bad Red Man shows up.
putting gow 2016 🤮
What’s your beef with it?
it s movie game that impersonates a better franchise.
By movie game you mean you missed the gameplay in it?
I mean older game had better gameplay cause they didn’t need to be another 3rd person cinematic sony exclusive.
I still don’t get it and you are not helping to understand.
You said that it’s a movie game when it’s not.
Now you say the previous titles had better gameplay which is purely subjective.
You also say that old titles didn’t need to be 3rd person cinematic games, which is confusing because they just couldn’t be at their time even if their creators wanted them to(they most likely did want, in old gows they certainly tried).
You also say that modern games providing 3rd person cinematic experience is the reason you think they have worse gameplay, that’s also confusing, it seems you just have some unfounded prejudice over game design.
Personally I think a game can have good gameplay no matter what graphical or whatever direction it’s creators choose.
Also it’s not a sony exclusive anymore so you can play and enjoy it as much as you want on other platforms.
Did you seriously make an
newalt account to repost something you already posted a month ago in two other gaming communities? Are you also The Picard Maneuver, one of the only other accounts only posting mid memes in the Gaming communities?
The account posting this is 6 months old.
It could still be an alt
Edit: OP is a reposter. They go and repost memes and other popular posts from a month-a year ago. My Lemmy app shows me when things have been crossposted.
Alright.
