I’ve only ever smoked weed and I really wonder what an LSD high feels like since I really love this song. Is it as flowery powery as the song sounds?

For me it was a transformative experience that changed the trajectory of my life. Its effects are beyond comparison and even after experiencing it, it’s pretty much impossible to put into words.

If you’re able to accept the dissolution of your ego, it can be the most freeing and reconciling mental state of your life.

generally that comes after the novelty of first time or 2 wears off, starting out your too excited for deep introspection…

not to damper your enthusiasm, but this can just as easily swing the other negatively, if your in a bad mood/have some deepseated insecurities/trauma you havent processed etc. setting/mood is everything, don’t “fight” the trip. doing so lead to years-long depression in my case

at it’s most basic, it amplifies feeling/thoughts/emotions. whether those are good/bad/productive/destructive is up to you

Thanks for sharing! I’m so sorry to hear that it lead to depression. :(

I have already been living with clinical depression for about five years. Should I avoid LSD in this case? Might it trigger and/or amplify it, then? I go from happy to sad and back again in a heartbeat normally. And I am hypersensitive, extremely empathectic. Is this an obstacle? I really would like to try…

i would probably avoid full trip, certainly alone (always more intense) without experienced/trusted trip sitter, but microdosing during a therapy session could lead to lot of breakthrough though i bet.

There are different ‘levels’ of tripping (depending on dose)

I’ve taken probably more acid than is considered normal by most people but not nearly as much as hardcore acid taking “career” hippies who are involved intimately in the distribution network lol

I have at times taken it multiple times a week in both small and larger doses, I’ve gone periods where I basically wanted to live inside a trip, and I’ve had periods where I abstained for months if not years

I took it for the first time at 19, I’m 32 now. Just some background.

    Anyway:

Acid (to me) feels like suddenly almost anything I am perceiving or thinking about becomes waaaaay more significant, complex, and interesting

I feel fascinated by things that are quite ordinary and extraordinary things feel truly divine!

I often am not very hungry, small sweets (fruit preferably) and some tea or a soda hit the spot tho.

I like to socialize with people that I am comfortable with, generally prefer to be in familiar territory (at home). Some people like to meet new people and go exploring more though.

Music sounds really fucking cool. Honestly in some ways acid feels like a stimulant version of cannabis. However acid induceslegitimate geometric visuals and color enhancement that is JUICY not just the mild color enhancement from marijuana.

The effect on how sound works is very hard to put my finger or or describe but sense of hearing is very much heightened. I feel like a panther, if that makes any sense. I can hear the faintest noises clearly.

Acid also has a nice long high which I personally like, anywhere from 7-12 hours usually for me at least. Some people don’t like how long it lasts and I can feel them on that.

Acid kind of makes it hard to feel completely 100% SURE about stuff sometimes. I seem to always be open to considering slightly different perspectives on what is correct. This can be cool for creative problem solving and at times frustrating when trying to just file something away as solved or certain when tripping lol

Acid sometimes makes me feel euphoric and other times makes my body feel like a wet, alien meat mech I am somehow both intimately amused by and also somewhat grossed out by when thinking too hard about it.

Sometimes I feel slightly telepathic but I am pretty sure it’s just an improved ability to read body language

People’s faces sometimes look weird as fuck, and occasionally I will think my paper towels have a very nice new pattern only to discover (duh) that I was just seeing visuals

Acid is one of my favorite drugs and I think that more people should do it at home with their friends and family, kinda like having some beers or weed.

I honestly think acid is a poor choice for concerts and loud crazy hectic public situations

Much more comfortable at home for me man.

(Then again on very small amounts I am comfortable like going to work, but that’s a micro dose and isn’t nearly as intoxicating, there are also no distortions in perception at that dose)

The body load feels sort of like a general, all over my body, pleasant but odd electric pulsing sensation, like I can feel my nerves firing

    I love acid.

(I apologize if this is all over the place I’m pretty stoned and this was all stream of consciousness with minimal editing and revision)

I have gone to work still slightly tripping from the previous night and also on smaller doses intentionally

I’ve done kitchen jobs, junk removal and landscaping work while under the influence

Mostly gave me more energy and made me think about how weird the job is

Socially probably more jokes I guess, like with co workers

It really is a matter of “set and setting” (to quote Leary), plus chemical variability due to black markets.

Sometimes a trip can be intensely visual and have you giggling at an unnamed wonderful shared secret.

Sometimes a trip can just be a sense of existential doom and a vivid imagination, the worst kind of disjointed lost nightmare you half-remember from childhood.

It’s not binary ofc. You have 6-8 hours of intense experience, which is a lot of time to drift from one mental space to another.

The #1 thing I can suggest is to plan a well-stocked bicycle picnic lunch in a low-traffic park. Bring water. Bring a first-aid kit. Bring a friend or two. Bring a frisbee. Bring lots of different kinds of music to listen to. Plan to spend a lot of time walking or sitting quietly, enjoying nature.

Oh, and it’s qualitatively different from weed.

As an analogy: no matter how much alcohol you drink, you never feel high like you ate a single gummy.

Imagine eating a whole bag of edibles while strung out on coffee and not enough sleep. It’s… not really like that

The bicycle thing is something I have done several times on several continents (fun fact: LSD is the easiest drug to bring on international flights)

One time in college, myself and a group of friends all biked to a big field and simultaneously took LSD, shrooms, and edibles. I finally really grokked freshman physics when the force vectors on the frisbee were glowing neon.

I’d highly recommend having supervision when you first try it. Someone you trust and ideally is sober and has experience with it. That way you won’t do anything too stupid and they can even help you with exploring some aspects of it. We had a great guy supervising our first trip, though he fucked with us a bit by abruptly changing the music a couple of times. But if you’re compatible and it’s done right, it is sooo much fun!

I usually have sore face muscles after a trip … from laughing too much.

The best way I can describe the cerebral part of it is:

You are free to think deeply about many things that you normally take for granted and see them as you would with a child-like curiosity. You second guess societal abstractions that used to feel like common sense. You see more plainly the motivations for things and connections between them. You start to feel much more viscerally present in reality rather than caught up in your psychological habits of thinking. The world of metaphor and symbolism starts to feel much richer.

Best to try it out with some friends and maybe a sitter if there’s no tripper with experience.

Also don’t listen to that guy suggesting research chemicals. It’s extremely stupid advice to consider it over LSD. You need to be sure that what you take has been researched already if you are not an experienced drug user. The only research chemical I can suggest if you want a shorter trip than LSD is 2cb, but that’s because it’s not considered a research chemical anymore.

Yeah those synthetic THC variants are research chemicals and very new to the market. I think they are awful and a bad high imo. I’ve never enjoyed them.

There’s definitely some fun RCs though, 1P-LSD for example is supposed to be a clean trip close to real LSD. But on the other hand you also have 25I-NBOMe which is “an LSD alternative” but is extremely dangerous. I think it has an LD50 (lethal dose for 50% of the people) of only 3 times a decent dose. Which is why we had the saying “if it’s bitter it’s a spitter”, which means NBOMe instead of LSD.

Yup! I have aphantasia (inability to mentally visualize things), so I had hoped that LSD would give me some really fun, trippy visuals that I was otherwise unable to come up with in my own head. Unfortunately, I didn’t get that, BUT instead what I experienced was seeing the colors of everything around me start to breathe. I don’t know how else to describe it than that; the objects themselves weren’t breathing, but the colors the objects were made of, were. It was like the colors would glow vibrantly and hold that glow for a moment, and then “exhale” with the colors fading out and around until the object was a dull, muted color. Then it would slowly brighten back up until it glowed again. Everything I looked at had its own unique rate of “breathing”, nothing was in sync.

Nobody else in my group had anything like that. They all talked about seeing geometric patterns, shape-shifting, heightened empathy, etc. My experience was way more mild compared to everybody else.

Also, while I didn’t have an intense visual experience, I did have a hard time focusing my eyes on anything, and everything was very blurry for a few hours. That made me feel very nauseous, so also be prepared for the possibility of throwing up, OP.

For me it feels more like that part of the roller coaster when you just start to drop and you’re in that free fall state, but for about 12 hours or so. It’s a blast, lots of neat swirly effects on the eyes, Lord of positive emotions. Just set aside the next day to recoup a little.

I think it’s pretty safe to say that this song in no way at all represents how it feels to experience an acid trip. Maybe brief moments of a trip would feel like this, but psychedelics can and often will take you on much more of a rollercoaster ride.

If you’re genuinely curious to learn more about what it’s like, let me share with you one of the great old websites available to delve into these matters:

    https://www.erowid.org/experiences/subs/exp_LSD.shtml

Lots of good trip reports on here to give you a better idea. Have fun, be safe, and if you do decide to try it find a friend to sit with you who has done it before. Cheers sugar!

Good. Enlightening. Fun. Wholesome. I’d say it’s flashier and more cerebral than mushrooms. Which aren’t necessarily mellow, but the connection of mushrooms feels deeper and more instinctual whereas on acid, the connections you make are ones you’re more consciously effecting.

Worth it, but know your source! Get feedback from other people who have used the same supply. There’s a couple analogs that are a real bad time that unscrupulous fuckwads will sell as acid. Oh also it should be cheap. Like, $10 or less a hit. Less, really. Last time I had any, it was $25, I think, for a vial. Which is like 200-400 doses

Lsd is like a toy that induces some mild mental plasticity, and playing with it lets you try on different brain shapes.

You start feeling/tasting the effects in your jaw about ten minutes or so after eating a tab, it’s a but like that feeling you get after rollercoasters but in your salivary glands, idk it’s hard to describe.

At this point I like to be alone, settled in a cool, dimly lit room, preferably lying on my back and on a tile floor (carpet is disgusting when you’re tripping) and I let my mind wander and start playing.

Day to day I’m incredibly visual, it comes naturally and isn’t particularly entertaining any more, I can easily create a looping klein bottle out of an apple and imagine things in 3d spaces. We’re long past rotating cows in this bad boi.

What I’m not able to do ‘normally’ though, is build music in my mind. The complex layering and holding all those moving parts in my mind at once is just not possible for me. Unless I’m on acid. Then I’m composing symphonies and exploring all the genres of maths and pattern building I can comprehend.

Acid for is a very sensory high, you will be aware of things you didn’t know you had the ability to feel. It can be very overwhelming if you focus on it and let it be.

I hate being in public or around people on acid (tbh I really dislike such things sober too) and if I’m not careful and get overwhelmed, I can get very lost in all the nerve endings of my face. Having a face full of nerve endings is a very distractingly sensory experience.

Getting out of this groove is easy though, just distract yourself with something interesting once you become aware of being stuck, and avoid social spaces at all costs.

TLDR: lsd is best done alone, lying on my kitchen floor in the dark, so I can play in my imagination. Ymmv.

Ive done it a few times. You ingest it and it can take about an hour or so to kick in as it takes time for your body to absorb it and begin working. From there the effects come in waves in that you will feel its effects strongly but they subside only for them to come back strong again, and so on. This wave cycle lasts hours, typically ~8 but this window can vary of course.

During the trip I typically feel giddy, everything is fun or funny, but this relies heavily on positive stimuli.

Visually Ive never full-on hallucinated in that Ive never had an experience on LSD that was entirely different from reality. For me it has always been an augmentation of reality, like seeing patterns and/or colors on top of reality.

I also seem to get kind of congested, like I have allergies. Maybe Im slightly allergic to LSD or something though.

Its been a great time overall but the length of the effects prevents me from seeking it out again. I just dont want to be locked in to being out of it for that long.

Now, as for what popular media represents LSD as, nothing like that. I have had very strong hallucinations, like I felt as though I was in other places or seeing things that could not be possible, on Salvia concentrations. And Ive done DMT once that pretty intense as well, but LSD was more mild for me.

Consider that concentration of doses likely has a lot to do with my experiences vs others though.

Positive stimuli can be anything you like doing, seeing, hearing, etc. I also recommend ensuring that anything you are watching/doing avoids negative topics, situations, or scenarios. I wouldnt watch a drama, or read sad stories. I want upbeat or happy things to help me keep my trip positive.

Because your mind is being chemically altered it can be difficult to control your train of thought once it starts. So by planning or curating a set of positive stimuli you can help keep those influences on a path you prefer. Id usually start by looking at funny memes, trippy videos, high bpm positive music, fun games that dont go into heavy topics (think casual or arcade type games), and Ive also had fun playing with legos.

my lsd advice: if there are things which deserve your tears, don’t hold them back, feel your feelings to their greatest depths, try to understand yourself and your place in this world, try to understand the world and its place in you, and as always, be kind to yourself 🩷
