        Using the word tree to refer to reefer predates reddit culture. Idk why. Best guess is our ancestor’s lack of creativity regarding slang terms and it’s a leafy plant.

    “trees” is a common slang for marijuana.

        It’s a native plant there. I wouldn’t really say it’s a weed. It is farmed throughout Asia for fibre, food, and drug… What other weed do you know of that is such a major agricultural cash crop?
