4·28 days agoI’m (hopefully) not even a percent as evil as the reddit folks and I immediately thought of ways to monetize the scrambled text.
Now you have huge differential datasets of original “humanlike content” to compare to “bad/scrambled” content to include in your whoring out of your userbase’s creative works.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do the vast majority of people on Lemmy seem to HATE AI?English
31·29 days agoLiterally yes to all of your stupid questions. Any others?
nobody is saying these attacks are solely caused by AI. but shoehorning it into every place of work , every classroom, every TV set and youtube video is making things worse.
Nobody was running dozens of fucking diesel and natural gas generators to keep their minecraft server up, you fucking potato.

91·1 month agoWhat they are calling AI is not evil in itself. But it is being used as a weapon against the environment, artists, progress, education, and internet discourse. That is where the hate comes from.

17·1 month agoAnd who owns the giant public AIs that are doing all the damage? Capitalists.
You won’t find nearly as many people in here shitting on running a local version of some small model in your own house to take care of your own needs. Obviously somebody’s going to complain because somebody will complain about fucking everything…
But all of the capture and devour capitalism is at the heart of every public AI right now.

6·1 month agoI once heard someone say that everyone draws a line in the sand sometimes. And most often that line is right in front of where you’re standing.
Remembering that helps me to be more conscious about my implicit biases and where I draw those lines.
I was mostly kidding. But the little bit that bothered me was the idea that ‘it is so simple here are 8 pages to barely scratch the surface.’
cron works fine for me. And if I ever have to work in an environment where I can’t use cron and systemd is available, then of course I will use it. Thus far that has never been the case.
I’ve been doing this stuff for 30 years. The helpful blog post that took 8 pages of text to explain how to schedule a job just made me angry.
I think I am finally into greybeard territory even though my beard made the change a few years ago. Damn.

41·2 months ago‘globohomo bullshit’ doesn’t strike you as a red flag?
Maybe they are trying to ‘take back’ a bigoted term, but I don’t get that feeling. Especially since the vast majority of people using that term are shithead chuds.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google Search as you know it is over - but there are alternatives (see post)English
91·2 months agoYeah I don’t think that one will go over well with the current wording on their FAQ.
Frequently asked questions What is this? This is a metasearch engine that gets results from other engines, and strips away all of the tracking parameters and Microsoft/globohomo bullshit they add. Most of the other alternatives to Google jack themselves off about being ““privacy respecting”” or whatever the fuck but it always turns out to be a total lie, and I just got fed up with their shit honestly. Alternatives like Searx or YaCy all fucking sucks so I made my own thing.

6·3 months agoI despise hearing/reading my name. So much so that when I found a book series I loved, but the MC shared my name I actually put down the paper version, grabbed the e-book, and did a global find/replace on all 12 books to remove my name.
