That a tiny minority might have heard the name before (“bestselling” really doesn’t mean as much as some people think).
The strength of life to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Yeah I mean, durr. We knew from reddit et al that this’d happen, and since here it’s not a central platform it’ll be more so. Everyone is their own little dictator, after all.
The issue is more that people talk others into going into the fediverse in particular to avoid moderation abuse on bigger platforms. You do, but you only avoid facebook moderation abuse if you leave facebook. So long as you go anywhere else, you’ll get moderation abused there, sooner or later. The mod abuse is just a natural element of it, unless we’d get a publicly (as in, the people, not a single individual or entity) owned system.

Ja bin ich dabei, ich kenn den Spiegel seit >30 Jahren inzwischen und hab noch nie von dem Typen gehört.

Claiming the store releases are usable PC releases and any customer ought to be subjected to them… eh.
I mean the idea is kinda cool, I give them that. But the technical implementation is so shitty, it actively makes buying a game that is on sale on MS Store but not on Steam on Steam instead of MS Store a good value proposition. For one, your savegames don’t need an external tool to decrypt like wtf MS?!

Germany adds the funky police that sometimes only German subtitles are allowed no matter the audio language you pick. So if there are no German-language subtitles because none were ever made, well you’re shit out of luck now, fuck you and your subtitle needs! 😐

Same design Steam etc use for their video game stores and libraries. Yeah. :<

First time hearing of this. Pretty cool design!

Aaaah, I see where your consternation comes from. Yeah I’m not a primary english speaker, I did not mean to imply “automated” with “mass banning”. I meant they clean up shop and get rid of vibe-coded shit, but “mass banning” for me would be anything from a hundred projects up, and that’s something human reviewers would easily clean up shop each day.
Obviously a rule that should not and cannot be defined “hard” should not be used for automated banning. At most for automated-selection-for-review.

Nobody cares for your got’em logic, it just makes you look childish.

Why? That’d not he what a company banning the projects would do, so why should it be done beforehand?
It’s exactly about having a hard cut-off, but for a softly defined offense.

Yeah but I also get it as a thing to put down, just in case you need to mass-ban thousands of clearly-AI-generated projects. You can then just point to this ToS.

There will be laws for this in your country, but they’re country specific.
For your cases:
The big difference with a streaming site is that it is automatically a public showing because they do not know who accesses the site (and in fact would not want to know, lest they open those viewers up to legality issues again).
Again, those are for my country. It differs everywhere.

Yes, that is infact the situation Bitlocker wants to protect you from. Correct. I mean we can argue that’s not the case you need it to protect against but if we’re looking at non-drive-retrieval situations, then you can just have a password at the BIOS-level, you don’t need to encrypt the actual drive. Might as well save yourself the little CPU usage for encrypting/decrypting.
Bitlocker is specifically for th idea that someone circumvents any on-boot password and just takes the drive out, reading your files off of it directly.
Like any security measure it is not to be applied in isolation.

Germany seems to not be restricted, either. Or it’s that my account is old enough to automatically be verified due to age.

What would federation do for a wiki, specifically? Like, every instance can have <some> pages and you can browse all of them from anywhere?

I mean, green ketchup tastes exactly the same as red one, so I’m used to colour being somewhat meaningless. Same with clear cola.
That’s my take on it, too.
It’s far from perfect and costly for the hardware (but for understandable reasons), but hey, it’s Fairphone. Rocking my FP4 here.

Not entirely unexpected, we know from sampling studies that while Google’s search results did get worse over the years, it got so slower than Bing, which is a huge portion of the search results of many alternative engines.

Yeah that’d clearly be absurd. Nobody would believe something so obviously wrong.
…
Right? 😅
Ah, that’d in part explain why mastodon would readily kick him off, yes.
