  • But they’re commie (it’s right in the name!) and that means they’re evil. They can only be shown as dilapidated, dark, and gloomy in every western flick since all of the USSR really was dark and dilapidated and gloomy everywhere except where the Animal Farm leaders lived which was gaudy, extravagant, and over the top opulent. It was always cloudy, never sunny and reality had a dark blue and grainy filter on at all times. Don’t you know anything?

  • To an outsider’s perspective you read like someone with an agenda trying to muddy the waters. No one who has even the most passing understanding of what a harassment campaign is or looks like would see this thread and think that’s what’s going on here. People justifiably laughing at some bozo who put them on an undesirables list because they said things he didn’t like is not harassment. Wherever you’re “sitting,” it is definitely not from some neutral third party position like you’re implying, so stop making a fool out of yourself by pretending it’s the dozens of the rest of the commenters here who are saying things they’d look back on with regret and self-cringe, instead train that “outsider’s perspective” into a mirror.

  • I’m not sure why other commenters are able to do this without an account, but I also was surprised just now to click on user reviews to see:

It’s getting worse and worse with this shit all over the internet. They have fairly successfully already enclosed most of the commons, now they’re building up the walls higher and higher. It’s all about control and of course tracking. I used to use a frontend libremdb.iket.me to access IMDB, similar to nitter/xcancel to read twitter or invidious to watch youtube. But it looks like IMDB made sure that is completely broken now.

Edit: It’s also a way to make people use the app instead of the website. This too is happening all over, reddit is well known for doing everything it can to force people onto the app, and their specific proprietary app. And it’s for the same reasons I mentioned above. It’s a lot harder to block ads from the app, but viewing the website with uBlock Origin on (and I refuse to browse any of the web without it, personally) you don’t have to view a single ad. And again, control. You have a lot more choice and options using a web browser, not to mention somewhat obscure your identity, even though that’s also becoming more impossible with browser fingerprinting. But using an app let’s them curate exactly what they want you to see, including ads, and also gives them your exact unique identity. I don’t know, I won’t use the app, but I’m assuming you have to have an account to use the app, so of course people on the app aren’t going to get a login wall because they’re already logged in.

Fuck corporate enshittification. Fuck IMDB. Fuck Amazon.

    With you 100-com

That’s a tankie. nutbutter is asking what a tankLe is. I think it’s safe to assume they’re just playing around because the title font (at least as seen from Hexbear) makes the letter ambiguous.

I also see that while you answered the perceived question correctly and succinctly as always, CobraCommander didn’t catch the joke either but went on to parrot fascist propaganda instead.

  • This is like something one of us hexbears would put in c/badposting as a mockery of liberals and how baseless and vapid their grievances are with us because they can’t even formulate any coherent arguments. But it’s so cringe and so on the nose that it would have to go in badposting rather than one of our quality shitposting comms. But here you are, actually posting it in .ml’s meme comm.

Seriously, without having checked their post history, just going by this post alone, I’m not convinced that u/Dragon here isn’t actually an ML doing a bit to make fun of the dingbats who use “tankie” as an unironic insult.

    1. The message of the song, confirmed by the lyrics you pasted, is the title itself. Vote… or don’t (because it doesn’t matter).
    2. It has nothing to do with “like-mindedness” it has everything to do with class interest. I thought you said you were a socialist. Do you know literally anything about Marxism? oh and no, the supposed “two” parties in the US both represent the same ruling class, you know, the fuckers that own the means of production under capitalism. You can call it “two” if you want, but you’re only displaying your ignorance to the fact that it’s just theater and both are two cogs in the same machine working in tandem to further the interests of the same class. Ever hear of the ratchet effect? Good cop/bad cop routine? Insert famous quote here:

“The United States is also a one-party state but, with typical American extravagance, they have two of them.”

    • Julius Nyerere

    1. And… you think that is espousing a pro-voting message? k. picard-troll
    2. Yes, revolution is necessary to defeat fascism.
and 3. (since your 2 contained multiple points) oh, and do you think what we have in the US (and other bourgeois dictatorships) isn’t a one-party system? picard Yes, in genuine democracy where the means of production are not wholly owned by capitalists. You really need to learn what the difference between a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie and a dictatorship of the proletariat is. China is far from perfect but the voice of the populace is vastly more powerful there and actually does steer the state. Considering the topic here was “voting out fascism” one obvious thing to note is that you won’t find China or the DPRK ever led by actual straight up fascists as is the case openly right now in the US.

  • Cool song you linked to, but if you think its message is pro-voting, and if you actually think doing so “would probably help get fascism out of the government” then you are painfully naive. It won’t do that. It has never worked and it never will, not under capitalism (“liberal democracy”) and this fact is baked into it. At best, it’s a harmless waste of time. But there is valid argument to be made that the act of voting, useless as it may be to affect positive change let alone oust fascism, is still endorsing the bourgeois dictatorship, still a kind of tacit approval validating the very system that has allowed fascism to slide easily into power.

  • The Chapotraphouse subreddit was radicalizing a lot of redditors when it was repeatedly hitting the front page of reddit fairly regularly and exposing people to counter-ideologies to liberalism that they never would have seen otherwise. Which is the reason why it (and then a slew of other popular lefty subs) had to be banned*. Despite all the lib-brained nonsense we have to constantly correct on this platform (the fediverse), there are an untold number of lurkers reading these discussions who are getting to see what actual leftist thought looks like when the narrow guardrails on the dominant narrative get removed. That exposure, especially when combined with witnessing the rapid intensifying of contradictions in their irl experiences, is enough to radicalize any thinking, genuinely open person. Lemmy being one of the few spaces on the internet where these things aren’t hidden or removed on sight absolutely plays a role in a lot of users’ leftward political evolution.

*It’s also why the fed instances like .world and piefed preemptively defederate, block, and continuously slander and demonize all of the leftist instances. They are literally trying to mitigate the spread of leftism that is inevitable when exposure to thought that’s outside the dominant ideology has a chance to get seen and voiced.

  • The liberals just think that there are inherently evil people like story book villains who have to play the role by throwing a wrench in what would otherwise be a perfectly peaceful and happy capitalist world order since that’s what antagonists do. It’s a form of Great Man Theory; everything would be fine if it weren’t for the bad guys, in this case Putin, who just want to take over for the sake of their own personal vanity. There doesn’t need to be any reasons for the war beyond that for liberals. It’s only materialists who have to worry about looking for material causes of things.

  • Oh but it is in question. Just ask literally any lib in the fediverse. The Narrative tells us that all of that was just part of how Ukraine is democratic, unlike the totalitarian Russia. If it was a coup, then it was a coup that the wholesome Ukrainian people (none of them Nazis) all wanted. Only the tankies, having fallen for the Russian Disinformation and become Russian bots themselves believe that it was a actual “coup,” so we always have to put it in scare quotes and snicker about how easily misled the authoritarian tankies are. Have you been living under a rock or something, tankie?

Edit: Seriously though, articles like this are taken by the liberals as more evidence that the coup didn’t happen, you know, because the evil Voldemort Putler said it. That’s literally what the scare quotes are about. The article is reinforcing the false idea that the coup is just Russian disinformation, relying on the fact that they’ve already made everyone believe that Putin is the villain antagonist of the story they’ve crafted. They’re expecting everyone reading to roll their eyes at the “dictator” and say to themselves the same kind of foolish thing [email protected] said below, casting doubt on the fact that the coup happened.
