All down to bigotry of course. For fun, try earnestly writing in absence of pronouns. Perhaps a bit more challenging than expected!
Digital artist who infrequently can scrape enough energy to create stuff. I like to escape with art and draw cute anthros.

Yeah, it is it’s own free (as in freedom) alternative to it. It’s in the name GNU: GNU’s Not Unix
From what I understand the default behavior of NSFW communities is that remote posts are effectively treated as hidden and don’t show up unless you’re subscribed or directly access the community. However, Lemmynsfw explicitly altered this behavior such that their posts go into main feeds and were treated as normal (though marked as nsfw).
I was never subscribed to any lemmynsfw community but would routinely see their posts scrolling through top day, so I blocked the instance and now I don’t. Very useful feature.
If you just mean your relatives, it’s important to know that what constitutes ‘young’ changes as you age. As someone in their 30s now, early 20s and below feels young to me personally. If your relatives are much older than you, especially if they saw you growing up, it’s likely you’ll seem young to them forever. That isn’t to say you should be infantilized your whole life, but just that it stems from differences in perception. If you feel like you’re being treated lesser than other adults, try to tactfully explain how you feel. Maybe you’re feeling excluded and that hurts, or perhaps being called certain things is belittling to you. Ultimately though, the most important thing is that tact, because it’s very likely not malicious, your relatives likely aren’t trying to make you feel small or invalidated.
As for anyone else in the street, or perhaps online, there’s usually something that makes people naturally assume youth. I don’t know what you look like obviously, but online you typically have very little information to work with. Usually just the words that are spoken, and maybe an avatar to go along with it. A number of people have pointed out your typing style already. I won’t belabor the point, but I will say first impressions are extremely quick to make, and quite influential. I personally try to talk to anyone with tact and just ‘as a person’, but it’s something I feel doesn’t come naturally. I really only ended up doing it because I spent a long time in moderation type roles, having to mediate issues with people and events.
Tl;Dr: It sucks, but people probably aren’t doing it to hurt you. Talk patiently to them, also type more formally.
Damn and here I thought my 13200Ah phone I charge once a week was big. I wish more phones went down the route of massive batteries, it’s so much better than being thin and barely lasting a day of normal use.
From those screenshots it does look quite nice! Visible ratings while scrolling albums is huge for me and I miss it. I migrated everything over to Strawberry from MusicBee this year because I only want FOSS, and Tauon appears to be GPL licenced! Strawberry absolutely works, but it still feels more like a settle. Gotta give this a try and see how it feels, thanks for the info!
Though if decentralization were to be hidden, it’d be a good idea to cycle through lots of well established general instances for user signups under the hood. The vast majority of people are just going to choose the default options, and if it’s all going to funnel into mastodon.social, that’s a lot of centralization of users. Ideally no single server lords over all the others in terms of user count, because that gives them lots of power other instances may feel compelled to abide by. Having power spread out across many different people helps keep things in check, at the very least making large or drastic decisions more of a round table affair.
Just voted! Looks like water and coffee are going strong so far, which I also ended up voting for on top too. Lots of super sugary stuff, honestly having an herbal tea, coffee, or sparkling water I feel much better after vs a soda or juice.
Total combined storage if I don’t count offline backup drives is a bit more than 25TB, though I got another 8TB SSD today so that’ll be going up soon.
I would say about half of that storage is filled with a number of different archives, lots of video, music, and game stuff just lying around. I also do not like to delete anything ever if I can avoid it. Basically just a hoarder, but I prefer to call it archival lol. I actually do maintain a ~1.4TB or so archive of content for 20 years of stuff from a rhythm game called Stepmania.
Godspeed Marine, if it became an actual page by July 1st that’d be funny as hell.
Lemmyparty.org, the premier website to see a single image of geriatric rodents having a good time.
Adding to say I have the same experience. Not banned, never used a TPA, but downloaded RIF Is Fun when people were writing up a storm just to see what was even going on. When the blackouts happened, I saw the more and more unhinged shit the Reddit administration was doing to stifle the protests and decided to make my blackout permanent from then onward. My exposure to the Fediverse has entirely changed how I interact with megacorps and software now. If it’s not FOSS or DRM free stuff on my device, I don’t want anything to do with it. Obviously getting to 100% on that is a very tall order, but I’ve been making a lot of headway since 2023.
Even in spite of the vast disparity in quantity of content, I would vastly prefer Lemmy to current Reddit without contest. Even aside from the massive brain drain the blackout had, and all the ad related enshittification, imagine being punished for even upvoting awesome things like Luigi Mangione? Now instead of the countless years I spent leaving my art and constant comments to boost some boneheaded corporation, I can post them here and be involved with a movement controlled by individuals. A movement made for and funded by each other, instead of lining greedy pockets.
