I mean pirated FH6 works on Linux with Proton, too. So there isnt kernel level anti linux/cheat in place either way.

Nah, that used to be a solution a few years back if you had the patience to setup GPU-passthrough with a single or two GPUs. But these anticheat rootkits now detect a running VM and deny you service either way.
Dualbooting Windows 10 LTSC with massgrave activation seems to be the best option for now if you really nee…want a Windows installation with GPU acceleration. For Nongaming/Rendering tasks: Winboat.

I feel like it is in human nature. Its in most of us. But basically all of us encounter this only with video games. Like incremental games were the numbers most go up and it is deeply satisfying even though a lot of them have a deeply disturbing meta-subplot going on while you progress through absurd numbers. Had the same feeling with the ye old Sim City titles. At the start you might roleplay as a “good” virtual mayor but at some point you probably reach the point where you are going to plane entire neighborhoods to build high-rises with fake water-access to min-max your economy on the limited space you are given. The games are already abstract to begin with but with time the abstraction layer gets to the point where you try to game the given rules of the designer.
I’m no expert. But i feel like Zuckerberg managed to reach that point in real life. Basically unchecked by the rules of society he does whatever the fuck he wants to play a perverted meta-progression of life.

I wouldnt call over 100% performance uplift with a 9070XT a sidegrade(even with RT enabled). Every card above or newer than a 7800XT is a straight upgrade. Besides maybe a 9060 with 8GB VRAM but that could be said about any 8GB VRAM card.

Its High-purity polyphenylene ether resin and the issue is the orange dickhead causing the strait of hormuz to close.
/eeew, techspot uses ai generated pictures of pcbs. gross

Probably the least controversial take on the threadiverse but i stumpled upon Ed Zitrons Blog like maybe two years ago. I’ve read a few posts of him since then and i just watch the shitshow unfold tbh. Its not that i 100% believe in his predictions. But he has made his point. I’m just an average fuck. I dont know shit. But it was so far the most believable and backed up assessment of the current AI situation.
I make barely enough money to afford my rent in bumfuck europe. How the fuck am i more informed about AI then some CEO? WTF.

CachyOS, KDE, 5800X3D, 6900XT, 32GB RAM, PCIE 3.0 NVME, latest Proton_CachyOS 11
It works quite well. At the start i have to tab out and in again so the game doesnt stay black. All the launch option i found for the game in the past days pretty much didnt do anything or introduced other issues from my experience. So i have none implemented atm.
I get the asset streaming stutters/timestretches mentioned in the article as well as soon i dial in the geometry and texture details above “high”. Which is a bit weird since a X3D chip and 16GB VRAM shouldnt have issues with texture streaming at all. But it still looks great on high and tbf my 4-5 year old hardware has no issues playing in 4k60 on high without upscaling. Cant complain. RT crashes the game but RDNA2 doesnt do well with RT performance either way.
Recognition of my controllers is a bit weird. With some launch options i tried i couldnt get my controllers working. Xbone Controller needed some fiddling with the Steaminput options.
Game only supports temporal AA solutions. FSR3 and Xess are shit as always. FSR4 INT8 via optiscaler crashes the game atm sadly. The TAA in FH6 is pretty good though. It doesnt smear or has obvious doubling artifacts. Just a bit soft and that typical TAA “look” which i got used to pretty fast.
I also tried GE-proton-10-34 which at first seemed to be a bit more stable and less stuttery before i narrowed it down to the texture/geometry detail settings. Setting the performance level to “highest clocks” in LACT might(!) help with stutters a bit too.
For the game itself: Its more of the same with a much improved map. I’m mostly happy that we got finally a full highway loop and a lot(!) more curvy and interesting to drive roads. Progression and story still sucks. Those festival wrist bands are just some make-up on a pig. It feels the same compared to past titles in the last 10 years. I played maybe 6-8 hours. Dicked around mostly, barely done any racing and already have like 50 cars and 2 million credits without the progression boost of the premium edition. It is what it is. Story, characters and writing are still painfully bad. Its worse than just nothing since you cant even skip the cutscenes. Just shut the fuck up you soulless fucks. At the start you still get constantly and forcefully stopped in your gameplay because the game needs to tell you something like you’re a baby. I’d love to see a slightly hidden menu option where i can confirm that i’m a big boi and already played a game once before.
But yeah, still the best racing game in recent years. Great handling cars, fucktons of cars and content, great looking and optimized graphics. I will put in my 30-50 hours and be pretty happy.

I have a SN30 Pro and i havent used it much since probably '18 or '19 but the rubberized sticks completly dissolved already. I have 30 year old PS1 controllers in the basement where the rubber held up better. You can buy replacements for a few bucks though! Not too happy about it but its okay i guess all things considered.

I have a Gamesir G8 for emulator use on my phone. It has obviosly nothing to do with your use case but:
It feels over all rather cheaply made. Those slidey rings around the analog sticks are some of the worst i dealt with on a controller especially for its initial high price. They became unsmooth after like a month. They have a history of rather shady practices with their android apps and emulators. So keep that in mind maybe it applies to other offerings from them too.
Otherwise i have a Xbone S/X controller (with blutooth but not the series ones. ms naming schemes suck so hard) and its alright. Feels great in the hand. But build quality is below the x360 pads i had. Works with linux most of the time but its the only bluetooth device which just refuses to work every now and then. Sticks are pretty imprecise.
Dualsense: Its better in almost every aspect than the Xbone controller and i really want to love it. But its just not comfortable in my hand. I get cramps after like an hour.
But they both have some years left in them. So i have no experience with all the new fancy hall effect offerings. Good luck!

Tbf most, if not all wheels dont work (fully) out of the box. Even with Logitech wheels you want the better new-lg4ff module. I also ditched Bazzite a year ago because i couldnt get it to work. Irc Bazzite since then implemented some of these modules? But i havent looked into it since i’m now happy with CachyOS.

I still use my Logitech G27 i bought over a decade ago and feature wise its all i ever need. I even spent some money to try out a few 15k-65k€ simrigs at a venue for an hour or so. They were cool and much better than my plastic toy steering wheel. But tbh even a 1000€ rig would be wasted on me for just dicking around those few hours in a year. Biggest downside is how loud these Logitech wheels are. Constant rattling and gear grinding which can annoy even people which sit two rooms away. In that regard a cheap(ish(!)) entry level direct drive wheel would be much better.
A good starting point for checking out compatibility is:
https://github.com/berarma/oversteer
and for Logitech wheels:
https://github.com/berarma/new-lg4ff
Installation on CachyOS via the AUR was piss easy. Button mappings are different on the G27 compared to the Windows drivers though. Which can be slightly annoying because pre-configuered ingame bindings dont make sense anymore. Oversteer has a lovely UI/UX compared to the 20 year old Logitech Windows drivers. FFB effects with the new-lg4ff stuff is perfect.
Another big positive is just how many games are supporting Logitech wheels out of the box. Support for fancier stuff can be a lot more flakey. But tbh thats just my impressions from what i read over the years on the internet. IDK.
Maybe someone else has some insights for the fancier stuff on Linux. Personally(!) i would suggest to look out for well supported Logitech wheels from the links above on the used market.

tl;dr: its ai booster bullshit.

OpenAI could fuck themselves too. Who knows.

Fair, maybe i should have worded it notepad was perfectly fine. Havent touched the win11 version for 2 years now.

idk why but the AI integration into Notepad makes me always laugh. Its a perfectly fine pre-installed text editor which just does its job to occasionally open a textfile or to eg quickly edit two lines in an .ini. Its biggest new feature in 20 or 30 years was the addition of tabs with Win11. But beyond that its almost useless. If you want to do anything more involved you better download one of the many alternatives with actual features to get shit done.
Its just so nonsensical to me to add AI to this class of product. Why? Same with paint. Paint is fine for what it is. But what the fuck am i supposed to do with AI in such a simplistic program? Its so stupid.

I wasnt even aware that Surface hardware was still a thing.

Microsofts messaging and the news cycles its involved in are such a glorious mess in the last few months.
Nothing adds up.
Funniest shit i’ve seen since someone turned himself into a pickle.

Well, i wont watch ads. If it comes to it i’d rather have a program thats recording videos in real time so i can skip the ad segments later in my recording like in the good old vhs times.
I used xp-Antispy to cut off the telemetry back in the day.
