Updating software to make it not work should be illegal.
Anyway, for people with casual office needs, the Apple apps (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) would suffice.
Otherwise, LibreOffice.
Really, no reason to pay for MS Office.

It actually has a lot of times. Make lots of promises, take investor money, show “working” prototypes, release nothing.
Sometimes, they even get away without lawsuits or criminal charges.
There’s even a word for it: vaporware.

Fucking delusional. I’m betting their “AI” will never live up to the promises, good or bad.
It’s all hype to keep investors pouring in money in the hopes that the endless stream of money can fund the development of what they promise and tell us to fear.
It’s a classic scam. “Big return, we promise. We’ll strike oil soon, we just need more money.”

Not really. At least with Proton, I can just change the exit and it’ll work.
That said, I can’t be bothered to do that most of the time. I’m not missing anything by not watching YouTube videos.

I’d rather find a well curated instance than block everything myself. Blocking has become so necessarily frequent that it make the experience less enjoyable.

Yeah, I already had most of these instances in my personal blocks. I’m fine with my instance blocking them.
This is the fediverse working correctly. A Reddit-like experience where you can weed out people who behave badly.
I don’t know where people get the idea that everyone has to be exposed to everyone else’s toxicity.

Five gallon food-grade buckets with good, tight, food-grade lids.
If you’re really tight on cash, go to restaurants or bakeries and ask if they have any that they’ll give you for free. Pickle buckets are common but will need some deodorizing.

Not these clippers, either:

Fuck it, just give them their own space.

There are people that suffer from isolation, anxiety, depression, trauma or a host of other issues over which they have no control or support structures to address their problems. Of course, these bots aren’t a solution but they are accessible. It’s no wonder why people would use them.
They deserve sympathy not condescension.

Uhm, no.
This is one of those technologies that CEOs hear about and think would be great for their business. But, they don’t consider that nobody wants to fucking do this.

It’s an infinite amount of money from every customer!

The patents have expired everywhere except USA, Brazil and Malaysia.
This is a blatant money grab before they expire everywhere.
You have to understand that there are places in the USA where “city planning” is completely unheard of. They seem to let landowners develop however the fuck they want. They end up with grids of identical houses with little thought of connections to services such as shopping, healthcare, recreation, etc.

The people I know that use BlueSky just wanted Twitter without Musk. It wasn’t much more complicated than that and BlueSky has provided that.
Adding AI is very Musk-like so I’m not surprised there’s backlash.
He was trying to make a Kurosawa-esque, classical hero story set in space. He definitely had more than a vague idea but the Jedi magic stuff really seems like a kind of hand waving magic MacGuffin.
