Yes generally around 1TB on cheap plans. That’s a ton of data though for streaming media, if youre moving more than that getting a higher tier VPS would make sense.

It costs a little but a VPS running Pangolin and Crowdsec is a decent replacement for cloudflare for hiding your IP and having some extra protection.

Most VPS are on 1Gbps connections, but even if it only has 100Mbps that’s plenty.

Unfortunately I don’t think they are wrong about it changing everything, I just don’t think it will be a positive change for most people.

Pixel art is a long way off from a game with realistic graphics that at least runs well because they didn’t animate every single hair or whatever.

Yeah 1GB of RAM is completely insane for a photo app, should be like 50MB unless it’s actively running face recognition or other ML stuff.

It supports DDR4 if you buy a motherboard that supports DDR4 too.

I would probably go Intel with iGPU for the transcoding and acceleration for Immich. i3-14100 is fast and cheap.

Otherwise you definitely have far more CPU power than you’ll need for those apps so no worries there.

Have you checked while it’s running all the ML tasks on import? Mine uses a good chunk of RAM while that’s running.

Delta chat seems pretty good, you can easily self host and it’s very lightweight.

I do not recommend matrix, the apps aren’t great, and hosting is a lot to deal with.

Cloudflare is quite bad at blocking much of anything malicious in my experience. This isn’t going to accomplish much.

Comes from the corporate mindset where only growth is good. Just existing as a company that’s makes stuff for a small group of people is somehow ‘incorrect’ to these crazy people.

True, I don’t know if they already do it, but limiting media streams to 480p like cell providers do on some plans would probably lower congestion a lot. And maybe limiting large file transfers over a certain size to a lower priority and speed.

Are 3d printed guns even a problem? This whole thing is just a way to destroy peoples ability to do anything on their own, or repair anything.

I’m not really familiar with consoles, do they let you install a game to local storage?

With the size of modern games it seems like they must, otherwise you’d be swapping discs non-stop during play?

As far back as I can remember game discs basically always came with an online activation so they weren’t really offline or forever playable if the servers went down.

But in the same concept you could also save the game install files and have the equivalent of a physical disc just in SSD or HDD form.

It sounds like the app requires some manual intervention to start/stop tracking, is there a way to make it work like google location history where it’s always fully automatic and in the background without extra battery drain?

Some of the other apps I’ve tried before for my traccar instance had a lot of battery drain or would randomly stop working in the background, I don’t remember which ones I tried as it was awhile ago.

You can also start to drag, hit alt+tab, and then drop in another window which is how I normally do it.
