the replaceable batteries will be coming back (thanks EU, don’t know if it will spill over to the US tho), and regarding the headphone jack there seems less and less market - wireless headphones have started to win out with features like ANC, passthrough and long battery times (i have to charge mine about once a week, and they are not new), on top of getting rid of the cable that annoyed more people than it endeared. You still can use cabled headphones with an adapter, so i don’t think it’s a catastrophal loss.

Yeah, i’m pretty sure the EU wont approve of locking down PCs that way. I’m also pretty sure that Googles current moves regarding the registration of developers and locking down sideloading will not be seen positively in the current climate, where the EU seeks to become more independent from Silicon Valley. The EU has been adamant in their view that users should not be limited to one market on phones; i believe that trying to lock down PCs would lead to legislation forbidding that.

I don’t know what VPN you use, but i have zero issues running Proton VPN and accessing catbox. Maybe some VPN nodes are used to attack Catbox and they are temp banned?

Sorry for you to go through this. I also had parents that always put me down and never encouraged me any way, but at least they didn’t do the comparing thing, that must have hurt.
Just do your own thing and i would recommend trying to set boundaries with your parents - at least your dad seems to try to respect them (asking you if he might tell the high school coach), and i think his comment about you coming a long way was him acknowledging the hard work and motivation you put in, at least i read it that way - expressing stuff like that might not be his strong suit. Your mom might be a different beast tho.
If your mom’s involvement in your activities is detrimental to your mental wellbeing, you might wanna tell her to stop talking like that about you, or you keep her out of the loop if you can. I don’t know if you are still living with them, and your options depend a lot on how dependent you are from them.
(Also, please try using paragraphs. it really helps with readability of longer posts)

I agree with you, even if you are downvoted. I’ve wrecked more in-ear buds by (non-replaceable) broken cable than i can count, while i’m on my 3rd bluetooth headphone in about 10 years - i lost none of them, and the second one is still around as backup.
The security is a thing that can be patched if it pops up and is only an issue if your OPSEC differs strongly from the common citizen, and the energy argument comes across like a purity test - the light in my fridge probably uses more energy.
I would never go back to cable, especially since noise cancelling doesn’t work without a battery anyway - and i am very unhappy without noise cancelling.
Also, i have a power bank where i can use 21600 Li-ion Battery cells as power source (and it doubles as charger for those cells) - on travels i take a few batteries with me, and even if i find myself for weeks without power, i will have it whenever i need it.

I mean, i can relate to the feeling that technological advancement doesn’t fulfill a life and that there must be something else, but irrationality and hostility cannot be the answer - I believe that it IS a personal decision, but it excludes taking away rights from others or threatening them with throwing them from helicopters.
Also, for those two it was a conscious decision, but their children do not have the luxury to decide for themselves what to believe in, taking away their right to decide - so in total i cannot condone their behavior or lifestyle.
I grew up in a christian family, but not deeply religious. I had the pleasure of learning of all religions in school, even if there was a surplus of christian influence in school, i learnt of all the options. I decided that all of them were wrong; those kids will never know of another option until it’s time to give them something to hate.

noone boils the ocean with using chatgpt
one transatlantic flight produces the same amount of CO2 as 600000 ChatGPT requests; if you use Quen 2.5, you need to make nearly 2 mio. requests.
To set this in relation, transport only for Bezos wedding in Venice equals about 54000000 ChatGPT requests.
Using a LLM once in a while is negligible.
Yeah, i remember reading an article where child devs were getting burnout from working inhumane hours, organized through discord with shit like standups and all the crap from offices, but without pay, health insurance or vacation time, on top of a shitton of bullying - and Roblox gets their cut through their marketplace
