I use chezmoi for tracking dotfiles and used to use a fancy Ansible setup. Now, I just occasionally backup a list of explicitly installed packages and track the major changes made to the system in a simple Markdown file.

I just tried it in incognito and got the same result as OP.

I’ve been using xargs forever and never noticed the -P option, thanks!

For some reason I always remember parallel being difficult to use, but maybe I was always trying to do something difficult like processing different batches of files simultaneously.
