This sounds cool, but troubling because of its license. Trying to write a linux compatible kernel and licensing as MIT is basically asking to get railroaded by gigantic organizations. I hope they reconsider in the future.

I think the root of the problem is the Republican party. If you look at the language the shooter used in his manifesto, it’s very very similar. There are things social media platforms can do to mitigate extremism, but people like this will continue to feel emboldened by the GOP.

I feel like the only thing that can dethrone twitter now is mastodon, given how it’s setup. I don’t really think bluesky will work anymore.

We have to have to remember microblogging is not the only thing that exists in the fediverse. Having access to threads from lemmy will pretty much have no impact.

I don’t care where it is, far right fucks should be called out and kicked out. Bad political ideas are often indicative of other shitty personal traits.

I like a lot of his content… but I honestly think he’s far right. He has a video where he says they’re just “teaching marxism” in college (the section of the video is literally labeled “LeftWing Propoganda”), and the reactions he has to certain things make me uh… skeptical.

In this very video he says he’ll post his content “wherever I’m allowed to”, letting me know he knows how he’s being perceived.

Speaking from a US standpoint, the public transit sucks. The main issue where I’m at is lack of bus stops, and the bus is never on time. I’d have to walk down a highway (not interstate) to get to the bus stop, then it might not even arrive on time.

Cars are faster, most of the time. However, they still suck. Traffic in dense areas is heavy at almost all times of day where anyone is active. It’s really a failure on the US government why people dont take public transit as much.
