Oh shit lmao I completely read over that. Guess we both thought it fascinating enough to mention haha
If you want to know something else mind blowing, you can actually use a speaker as a (very shitty) microphone! The same principle of moving the cone by applying a voltage works in reverse: if you move the cone you will create a voltage. And since sound is nothing but moving air, talking into a speaker cone will create a voltage in relation to the sound.

4·18 days agoI have this guy tagged, he’s been here a while and started by denying the artemis II launch and other stupid shit.
I kinda get what you mean, there’s this other person using lemmy as his personal IT 101 professor, his posts annoy the shit out of me too. But apart from that it’s them and this guy when I think about idiotic posts

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is so difficult to organize a strike
24·22 days agobut to strike fear into the heart of the capitalist, you must provide a credible threat that you can keep on striking indefinitely, and that requires a lot of work and a lot of organization
Or, threathen to make them actively lose money. For example, where I live it is legal for bus drivers to strike.
But they can’t strike by continuing their route and not charging for the ride. They explicitly made that illegal, making a general public transport strike not only less effective but it also turns the public against them because they are inconvenienced. All intended, ofcourse. Deny the workers an effective method of striking while still being able to say that they are “allowed” to strike.

2·1 month agoExactly. And, combined with the shared amount of texts/minutes (which IIRC for me was something like 100), actually calling people and wanting to text your friends you’d run out of texts very quick. WhatsApp was a godsend at the time.

6·1 month agoI remember starting to use it because texting was pretty expensive and limited at the time. Whatsapp was free (group) texting when on WiFi and still cheaper when on cellular. If texting wasn’t so expensive at the time I really don’t think whatsapp would’ve caught on like it did. Now people are just used to it so that’s probably why it’s still big
