US foreign policy hasn’t changed since manifest destiny so threats to attack are literally nothing new, it’s still ““aiding”” a lot of western countries with stationed soldiers in case some countries outside the western bloc decides to attack, nuclear tests is a bit more iffy after the cold war, but can easily be justified by wars breaking out, trade war isn’t in the interests as well given how they have a very large economy and losing American products from all their companies would be horrible (imagine all the tech for instance)…

There’s genuinely no reason to cut ties with US for any country, doing so would just shoot it in the foot since you lose one of the largest economies for trade.

To be fair, you don’t need to update your system to install a package, all you need to do is run the update command just to sync up the database, then cancel out when prompted.

I’ve gone multiple weeks/months without updating and everything was fine.

After beating Deus Ex 1, there was a time where me and some friends would install a coop mod and instead of playing through the game normally, we’d pick a map, clear it and play proper hide and seek.

It was really fun since you could easily hide under objects like tables, the lighting system let you essentially become invisible in shadows, the maps had a fuck ton of all kinds of nooks and crannies meaning plenty of unexpected hiding spots, etc.

I went through the same exact thing somewhat ““recently”” after realizing reforms aren’t gonna do jack shit, media creating narratives obfuscating reality and this obfuscation of reality being heavily bought into by people both online and irl.

You’re likely getting radicalized leftward, and this emotion and panic is a temporary part of it. It has happened to me and to others in the past, but this intense feeling eventually passes.

What helped me personally in the later stages was getting a coherent worldview, reading and studying some political theory so you can actually spot what doesn’t fit in the news and in the comments, know what’s actually in your interest to support rather than falling for some general moralizations, etc.

I find it funny how this question is being asked on Lemmy of all places, where the definition of fascism has been completely lost (essentially now being some vague notion of right-wing evil)

Nothing as fun, but just a heavy corruption scandal. The director of the school was apparently pocketing a lot of the money from school funding initiatives, and offloading a lot of the purchases that were supposed to be done onto the last year students. I remember our class being chosen to buy new furniture for an entire classroom in the name of “giving something back”.

Right isn’t as unified as you might think. There’s plenty of right on right violence, especially when a channel that operates under the veneer of enlightenment or “smarts” does something that goes against it, like recent JP Jubilee appearance.

Left is also a very wide umbrella, not some team, so when someone is being idiotic, giving flack and “infighting” is good.

We had liberal politicians fight fascism in the past, and it was great!

Not only did they welcome fascists who opportunistically saw where things were going with open arms, but also forced workers to accept monarchists and reactionaries who repressed and brutalized them constantly as comrades in arms and 2 days after Fascism fell in Italy, Fiat for instance had ordered guards to fire into insubordinate workers if they didn’t start working in 5 minutes.
