E: @[email protected] this is kinda an answer to you, although, you ain’t the one stating the confusion. A bit of a mix up, content is relevant anyway, so…
Yes, I understand your confusion. See, I find this confusing: in the earlier comment you proclaimed
I’ve never been shy about where I stand politically. I’m a green progressive social democrat
Which suggests you have an understanding of political terms or at least the reality of the politics you identify with. But that just might be partially my fault, as in your profile you’re also sharing coordinates of a political compass. From that I conclude that you did their questionnaire and went “ah, so that’s where I’m at”.
The political compass is unscientific and trash in general. It’s trying to squeeze their limited understanding of society into these neat and simple axis. I strongly suggest not to rely on this stuff, especially not to proclaim political affiliation or base voting decisions on what it says.
But that’s just regarding the test. The main issue is, that this political identity does not overlap very much with how parties, generally described as Social Democrats or Greens, act in real world politics. It’s an idealistic, moralistic approach, where one relies not on what actually happens in the real world and through that align their political identity accordingly, but based on an idea, of what these parties supposedly stand for.
That’s why I listed all these things, because these are the kind of politics SPD and Grüne are facilitating and implement in reality. They practically do far right Realpolitik. Baerbock (Grüne) said that hospitals can lose their protected status (in reference to Gaza), the Grüne supports xenophobic policies and also the largest rearmament of the German state since WWII. SPD just helped to deconstruct the 8 hour workday (which workers bloodily have fought for against the capitalist class) and facilitates the destruction of the social welfare and safety net, while also planning for war (SPD chancellor Scholz announced the Zeitenwende) and supplying Israel with weaponry and supports US wars by allowing the use of US bases on German territory. Both of these parties help implement European anti-migrant and surveillance policies. Just a few examples. This things aren’t green or social and a lot of these things are not supported by their voters, so it’s questionable to even call it democratic, solely based on the option to vote for or against their flavor of capitalist management every couple of years.
These parties act not in the interest of the people and according to their own advertised ideals, but as nuances of the capitalist class. Any concessions granted to the working class only happen through immense pressure or to pacify the upset masses. Anytime they can get away with working against the common people, they will. They protect the status quo of a society based on class, there’s nothing progressive about it.
Well. ya, also what the other people in this thread said, especially RiverRock’s longer remarks on Idealism and Materialism.
That profile isn’t available on every client, btw.
Green progressive social democrat, so you are pro imperialist, pro NATO, pro rearmament, pro Israel, aka pro genocide, apartheid and settler colonialism, pro Ukraine war, pro Iran war, pro deportation, pro refugee camps on the borders of Europe, pro surveillance, pro destruction of the welfare state, pro destruction of worker rights, all mixed with a little bit of pro renewables and pro …ya, that’s it, what else, help me out here, I don’t see any other "pro"gressive things in current green or social democrat parties.

Why don’t you call all capitalists and their liberal enablers extremists for enslaving and annihilating the world and its inhabitants?

11·18 days agoThankfully, I am not your pupil. If you’re not able to make an argument without sending people off to read into your own philosophies, you ultimately failed to make an argument.
You’re’ making a categorical error, as this thread is about an Automaton having direct, tangible real-world consequences for people’s live trajectory. It’s not about the legitimacy of the educational system itself, not about the relevance of grades. If it was, I would probably even agree with you.
Now, that your initial, ideological take has been rebuked after the very first try, you keep arguing a strawman from a privileged position of survivorship bias, with an outdated anecdote and an absolute refusal to acknowledge differential vulnerability, by reducing your pompous deliberations about systemic rot into individual failure. Effectively a cruel form of victim-blaming disguised as enlightenment. And probably one of the most US-American things to do.
But what is it now, the failure of the system or of the individual? Because your argument seems to be condemning the system as irredeemably corrupt, yet simultaneously you blame individuals for not transcending it. If the system is so rotten, how can individual failure to escape it be a moral failing? Of course you can’t escape that contradiction without exposing your very own misanthropic disgust for those that didn’t manage.
You, the irrelevant comet in my orbit, only drift further off into the void now, by distorting the problem of a 7% false-positive rate on a life-altering accusation into a one in a million (0.0001%) chance of terrible application of technology. Mixed with unfounded empirical claims about the material conditions about the labor market in the 21 century and spiteful jabs at potential live choices of the ones falling through the cracks.
Your attempts to claim authority are merely furthering your illegitimacy as a serious person. You’re dismissed. Off you go, lil’ irrelevant comet.

2·19 days agoCalling a one-liner a thesis after trying to make an argument with long-winded, but ultimately empty autobiographical babble — like an ugly accident one cannot look away from, this just keeps pulling me in.
So, how does the anecdotal, badly written life story of a self-absorbed ego going through a midlife crisis relate to the reality of people getting their lives fucked through some automated allegation machine? Would you, maybe, condense your point into a simple sentence? So that even irrelevant comets are able to get it and to also showcase your moral blindness towards systemic dangers, just because you managed to get through, back in the good ol’ days. Dangers that, as pointed out already and contrary to you own experience, will have life changing consequences for other people. That’d be great.

2·19 days agoAnd now you‘re trying to impress the empty ether with your irrelevant doodles from back when.
Just like you keep dwelling on your own trivial creations, you keep lingering in conversations you should’ve put behind you eons ago.
My humble guess is: the massive gravitational center of any orbit you’ve ever calculated has always been your ego.

That‘s the actual critique. But of course you‘d focus on the grade given.

71·19 days agoHoly the ignorant self-centered anecdote. Too long, no relevance, do not recommend. I‘d probably give it a failing grade.
You talk about regression, I talk about progression, we are not the same.
Seems more like you are scared to actually progress intellectually.
The actions were laid out in the OP comment and in the article you refuse to read.
You think Michael Parenti had to gain as much from writing up this article, that it’s not worth your time reading it? A published academic article for the global community.
Stop wasting your time finding excuses.
China famously doesn‘t need to share anything at all, the US is very good at pulling dumb shit out of their ass to slander unfriendly nations for their own citizen’s indoctrination, like this shit recently.
What‘s a good, unbiased source for you? You sure that’s something that exists in politics? You’ll have to take the information and use your critical thinking abilities to further your knowledge about the world. The article from Dr. Michael Parenti from the other comment is very well sourced. Stop creating artifical standards, you have been excepting dumb propaganda in the past to form your current understanding.

You also lamented about being banned on lemmy.ml and yet, here you are.
We’re talking about the German parties Die Grünen (Greens) and SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany), so, not sure why an American anti-communist liberal has the urge to vomit out their uninformed bullshit, only to append it with some derogatory drivel about “tankies” “insulting people” and “making stuff up”. If I wouldn’t know any better, and I don’t, I’d conclude that you are a first grade idiot.
But alas, the benefit of the doubt: Are you actually interested in learning or are you just venting? If you’re interested to learn how the German Greens are imperialist, pro genocide and anti-welfare state I might invest the time to give you a more serious answer. But right now, my impression is, that you only want your prejudices reinforced and spew some hate towards an outgroup you struggle to understand.
