I have been using Wrye Bash on Oblivion. Not sure what your system is like but I’m on Arch and using a slightly older version of WINE and made a bottle for Oblivion. Just run WB under the bottle. I have the GoG version of Oblivion so not sure if that matters.
I see being facetious is lost. Yes I know they don’t use a lot of space, however, they do package all their own dependencies. That means you do end up with duplicates.

Not a GD, so here’s my 2 cents on the top 2 - build from scratch. It will be cheaper in the long run as you can have an upgrade path. Some SIs use proprietary parts that will screw you later. Any non-rolling distro will be good. If she is a long time Windows user, I would recommend making it have KDE for the desktop as it seems to be pretty Windows friendly in orientation.
