It doesn’t matter what brand smart TV I have, I never connect them to the internet. I manually download updates to flash drive and install them off the flash drive.

For smart features, I rely on Nvidia Shield TV Pro devices (living room & master bedroom) or Onn 4K (for other bedrooms).

I currently trust Nvidia, and yes, Walmart, more than Sony, LG, Roku, etc. For anything I don’t trust on these devices, that’s what I have PiHole servers for.

Zorin OS. They do an amazing job at creating a very smooth UI and give you the ability to tailor it to your liking. It’s Ubuntu-based, but very lightweight. I use it in all my VMs for this reason as well.

Or WinZip. I work for a company that literally has the licenses for every computer they own. Why? 7-zip is free.

As reddig33 mentioned, reset the TV and don’t connect it to the internet. Buy a Google TV or Apple TV device of some kind, set the TV to that HDMI channel and use it instead of what’s built-in.
