6·11 months agoSacrificing socialism in the former USSR was a necessary sacrifice to implement Pizza Hut.
That was “libertarian” or “libertaire”. “Liberal” was already a bourgeois ideology at the time of the 1789 French revolution. It was a more egalitarian idea than the pre-existing status quo, since it involved abolishing feudalism and noble privileges, but it also came with a defense to the right of property and free market. I think the difference between the USian use of the word and the use in most if the rest of the world is that Americans kept the quotation of novelty and progressism that were attached to the word at the time of it’s independence, rather than the specific type of economic policies it was associated to.
Poor? Try gambling.
As a European (French), I’m offendd. My country can do its own terrorism too ! See, we can bomb weddings in Mali just as well as Americans do in Afghanistan! And did you even see the violent repression in Kanaky last year ? We’re a terrorist state and I demand we be considered as such.

3·1 year agoOk, but remember there’s no evidence that Luigi Mangione killed anyone, the whole inquiry was rushed. The mysterious killer of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thomson should be referred to as “Robin Hoodie” or “the Claim Adjuster”.
Bodhi Linux. It had to be something that could run on a 32 bit laptop, because that’s what I used as a testing ground before committing to Linux.

Memes@lemmy.ml•AI will never be able to write like me.English
2·1 year agoBut will the AI be able to see in its sample which words form a coherent pattern and which are arbitrary? Or will it always try to interpret the message as a whole, and as a result, misinterpret it all? Since the AI doesn’t actually “understand”, I wouldn’t expect it to recognize what should or shouldn’t be understandable.

If it’s only for a reverse image search, I use tineye.com . That being said, it doesn’t have all the functionalities of lens, like it doesn’t have an integrated AI to recognize the content of a pic or anything…
For copying text from a real world document, I also use OCR, which you can find on F-Droid.

The thing is, the really older init functions like Sysvinit or even Upstart aren’t all that’s being compared to Systemd. Alternatives include OpenRC, which is just a bit older than systemd and also improved during this time, and Dinit, which is newer than systemd.
I recently switched from Arch to Artix witg Dinit, I can’t make a full comparison since I also didn’t reinstall every program after the change and this might play into it, but I can at least say that the time it takes to boot is reduced, and I saw some people online making the same constatation.
As for the comparision with windows… I think regardless of init system and distros it is generally true that Linux does more out of less than windows, and that difference completely dwarfs the difference between specific init systems on Linux.
