This has been a serious bugbear for me lately. I switched to eBay, NewEgg, Etsy to spite Amazon’s monopoly on e-commerce but I have neither the awareness nor the “spoons” to sort out the vendors on those sites who ship through Amazon
It deflates my spirit a little every time one of my orders come in with that damn smirking logo
If I can’t buy lower-priced Chinese RAM, then Russia shouldn’t be able to make weapons with our tech
I know that’s not how it works but it should be
Those same companies have their stupid, shitty puppet in the White House making the legality of what they do a farce
You know, I think we could try building libraries with a dedicated community server that has just enough LLM voodoo to summarize the books in stock for the public to get an idea of what’s available
Maybe it’s a huge overstep versus what we can already do with more “analog” technology, but I could see potential in this

These models aren’t going to produce accurate information about the people they investigate, and it won’t even matter if it’s accurate. What “matters” is that their reports will add new layers of the facade of legitimacy to whatever story the authorities using them want to construct
