If they did have a copy in Anna’s Archive, why the fuck would AI companies find physical copies, buy them, rip them apart, scan them, and then digitize them before destroying them?
Remember, you don’t get the digital copy. It’s only used to train their models.

Sounds like you’re using a 2025 harness on your CEO bot bro

They thought they’d sell first and leave someone else as the bagholder.

There’s relatively little information given how prominent these companies are. But the CIA was the first customer of both companies, and were most likely involved in their founding. Here’s a article to get you started on Oracle: https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/oracle-s-coziness-with-government-goes-back-to-2820370.php
John McAfee claimed he never used McAfee VirusScan. He never said why but while on the run in Belize he said no one should use VirusScan. My wild guess is that it might be because it scans for lots of stuff that aren’t in your interest as a user, and probably provides a convenient backdoor into your computer for certain people.
If you want the weird stuff on Oracle there’s a crazy woman who’s obsessed with Larry Ellison that writes all kinds of things about him on a place called the Drey Dossier.

They exist for the same reason McAfee exists. They’re a CIA front.

More like it’s already popping. The Korean AI bubble already popped, dragging Intel, AMD, ARM, Nokia and others down by a significant amount. They won’t bounce back. SpaceX is going down down down. QE won’t save this one because nobody wants USD anymore.

Yeah. Revolution now. We need to fucking build a parallel internationalist power structure and just freeze out the billionaires from the economy. Fuck the UN, we make our own with black flags and snooker. It’s up to us to define what it means to be an adult.

Jolla seems promising, hope it works out well for you!

Anthropic just announced that Fable 5 is now included in all Max plans. Looks like Kimi K3 got under their skin a bit.

They also banned Huawei based on dubious accusations.
Tried a Huawei phone last year. The software kicks ass, the hardware is top notch, and it’s got a god damn 10x optical zoom camera. All while being cheaper than a Pixel. Of course they had to ban it.

That’s pretty cool. I’ve heard the idea that the Garden of Eden is where the Persian Gulf is now. It supposedly had incredibly rich soil and an immense supply of fresh water until the glaciers over Europe melted and eventually flooded the area.

Excuse me while I act as Satan’s lawyer, but should LLMs be able to reliably recognize a mental health crisis? At what point is the user responsible for their own actions?

Yeah, it was absolutely correct. Doing so was the only sensible things. Generate the model, release it with open weights. Instead they got greedy and now we have an arms race that is both dangerous, is crashing the economy and is devastating the environment.

OpenAIs bet was that compute was the limiting factor. Sam Altman claimed that essentially no-one could obtain the level of compute necessary to develop something like GPT-4. Then Deepseek came out.
They’re still trying to make the original claim true because if they admit that they were wrong (or full of shit) it all comes crashing down, not just their companies but likely the economy as a whole.
Remember, George Bush Jr was so hated that Obama got the Nobel Peace Prize simply for not being George Bush Jr.

Currently I’m getting forced to use the app when browsing new reddit on mobile. I can scroll about 120px before I get a “paywall” telling me to get the app to continue. Reddit is pure trash.
China is already making really good chips, even in old and “outdated” fabs. Because they came up with techniques for how to squeeze more resolution out of those machines than what was thought possible. So if their DUV technology actually works, then I’m sure their fabs will make good chips.
