  • Correct?

    more or less

they underestimated how much life would survive on the surface; they couldn’t have predicted the Forced Evolutionary Virus; the Enclave (US rump state) is too fractured and horrifically incompetent to reënact Manifest Destiny; and most of the vault experiments failed catastrophically (if they weren’t cut short by mechanical failures, deliberately or not).

why would it be stupid? this isn’t ‘implied’; that’s literally the story. ignoring that the Fallout TV show is really just an incoherent misanthropic screed which is an extension of Todd’s contempt for New Vegas, Obsidian and Interplay:

the resource wars weren’t going to end any time soon, the USian people were getting tired and socialist sympathies were rising. it was established in New Vegas that the US false-flagged themselves in order to justify a nuclear exchange against China in order to cull the population and reënact Manifest Destiny. part of the Enclave’s whole deal is trying to genocide the wastelanders to prepare North America for recolonisation.

it’s been my headcanon as far back as Interplay’s Fallout that an Americanist cabal believed the USian people were the US’s true enemy, and that by false-flagging themselves they could force a chosen few into the vaults where they could experiment eugenically with creating the ideal society to inherit the post-apocalyptic world free of foreign adversaries.

VaultTec’s product is the end of the world, so they sold the end of the world.

  • my guess is it was trying to get you to help one of its friends or something.

that was my first guess, but it didn’t seem like it was leading me anywhere.

    i’m a little worried now.

I’d have had a good search around the area befriending crows can actually bring you some benifit like shiny gifts

when i was homeless, i shared my food with a crow. i got them to bring me coins by feeding them double portions when they brought monies.

or in some cases crow bodyguards as they actually recognise individuals as friends etc.

that’s my current relationship to the corvids in town. a long time ago i rescued a magpie from two seagulls, and since then all the corvids no longer fly away when i come near them. the magpies even defended me from a seagull one day!

but they otherwise don’t approach me, and we don’t ‘communicate’.

  • that was my first guess, but after i tried getting back on the path they only kept putting grass on my feet. i tried holding still, backing away, moving toward them, moving back into the grass, making noises, and checked in the bush — it just kept putting grass on me. i didn’t immediately see anything. i was afraid of scaring or upsetting them, so i left.

someone else suggested they’re a juvenile that doesn’t know how to feed themself.
