11·1 month agoLol, it has to be BAD. My ps2 is so unreliable these days, even while not in a moving vehicle. I usually have to open+close the disc tray a dozen or so times before it finally reads the disc.

It’s easy to forget that there was a time that these types of “norms” weren’t established yet. I remember people learning to use WASD instead of the arrow keys in a similar way.
I can’t remember which ones they were now - it’s been years. I just remember laughing at how unrelated most were.
Whatever it was felt automated. It was very shortly after and all happened at once. I doubt any human looked at it.
I remember people talking about the bots at the time.
Once, years ago after a bad school shooting, I went to the conservative subreddit to argue with them about gun control (specifically improper storage and liability) because I was so bothered by the shooting and was feeling impassioned.
Didn’t get banned by the conservatives for that, but I got auto-banned from a whole list of unrelated subreddits for even speaking to them. What kind of mean-girls nonsense is that? It was like I was being ostracized for briefly sitting at the wrong lunch table.

9·2 months agoSkimming through the reviews, the negative ones I see seem to be mostly people struggling with the difficulty or the pixel art graphics.
Maybe this is a case of it being so popular that it’s bringing in people who wouldn’t otherwise play this type of game. I remember Elden Ring had a similar thing happen.

3·2 months agoLink to the Past was my first Zelda game, and I played so much of it. I haven’t played a top-down RPG like it in many years, so this is refreshing. I think I’m over halfway through.

Since we aren’t capable of gaining absolute knowledge, we’re cursed with having to each set our personal threshold for skepticism/credulity. Setting it too low like your quiet uncle seems like it would be a confusing nightmare.
I tend to be skeptical, but I still went down a rabbit hole the other day re: aliens after indirectly reading about “sightings” in Europe in the 1600s. This one was fascinating:
