Technology@lemmy.world•US prosecutors charge Atlanta man after GrapheneOS phone wipes itself during airport searchEnglish
15·7 days agogOS already has separate profiles with different passwords, how about setup a profile with a few pictures of gaping anuses to match the energy of nosy warrantless searching federals and install a couple apps with some activity I’m guessing is going to be better than an obvious wipe, even though a wipe is legal as it’s your property and not evidence of a crime to destroy your own stuff.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you do in your free time after having exhausted your hobbies?
2·18 days agoI suspect to lead a good life you need one or more unobtainable goals to work towards like trying to be a virtuous person, provide and support mutual aid in your community, pursuit of aesthetics in art or truth in philosophy or athletics in sport etc. From those goals developing hobbies, education, skills, etc in pursuit of those goals become directed and purposeful.
I think you also need short term goals to stay motivated and functioning like chores, working, maintaining friendships and relationships, etc. But without the larger goals the smaller stuff can feel meaningless and without the smaller goals the larger stuff can feel exhausting.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do the vast majority of people on Lemmy seem to HATE AI?
112·1 month agoThere are some basic responsibilities they need to meet like not violating copyright and licensing on source material creating a double standard where corp slop can pirate without charges but individuals can’t and building and running data centers that aren’t in conflict with the community they are running in. They also should have warnings about anthropomorphizing language models that don’t think or reason but I’d settle for the first two to start.
As usual it’s not the technology that’s the problem, it’s the dumbass way it’s implemented in a profit motive

There are some atrocious actions people have done to other people and themselves that I wish I could unlearn. Not just the genocides, slavery, and mass rapes across history and currently but the individual stuff like what happened to Furuta Junko (nsfl). I used to think learning about the more morbid nature of humanity would be helpful to understand but it’s hard not to become cynical or misanthropic after learning about some of the worst stuff.
