Happened to me too about a week ago. Spent like 20 minutes solving captchas like a moron until I gave up and realized that maybe what I was trying to do wasn’t that important.

Also +1 to the guy that mentioned to listen to your local music scene! I have as many smaller local artists as I possibly can in my library. I’m always looking for random stickers on the streets or festival posters, and then I get home and look all of them up to see if they’re my jam.

Never stumbled upon AI generated music ever.

I have my local library with ripped CDs and pirated music mostly from the 2010s and below.

When I feel like discovering new music, I

• browse forums to find arists similar to those I already listen to
• I search for artists that have been featured in a collab in songs I already listen to
• Or, I use ListenBrainz’s Weekly Exploration tab when I’m feeling bored.

No streaming bullshit, AI algorithms made to keep me hooked, and definetly no AI music to be seen or heard.

Used Last.fm for like 3 months before finding out about ListenBrainz and making the switch. Truly amazing app, love all of their services (Picard my goat) and I’m happy to hear more people are joining!

I wish the social aspect was a bit more active though, I always follow people with similar taste but I never get a follow back (and the accounts always have 0 people they follow). Also I never see pinned songs and such :(

Yes, this is awesome! This is how federation was sold to me for the first time, and I was unpleasently surprised when I learned that I still had to have multiple accounts. (Currently have 4 I think)

I hope this becomes the standard, I’d happily migrate.

I like my ideal world where no one expects anything from anyone when it comes to clothes and appearance, but I also like to figure out my (very extra) outfit of the day from time to time

He got an account just to spy me on here from time to time (I mean it in a cute way), but I don’t think he has any interest of actually using it, for now at least. He’s not really a “social media” person, Instagram is like his “main platform” but only because all his friends are there lol

He has shown interest in my “decentralization journey” (for lack of a better term, I guess) because we share similar values and he recognizes that moving traffic to popular social media websites like Instagram or Twitter is harmful because the parent companies are awful (less focus on privacy, more focus on environmental impact and political issues). Got him to use Bluesky instead of Twitter because of this.
