Why anyone would want to play a game that sells items for tens of thousands of dollars is beyond me

And, like art collection, at the highest end of it, it’s mostly just money laundering.
I mean, the game itself is free to play, and sometimes it’s even fun!
Also no part of the actual game is locked behind paying, only cosmetics.

I don’t play this game. Is it an in game economy or like does the company sell these items?
The company sells basically jpegs of ships they want to bring into the game at some point with unknown strength for high sums of money.

No way I’m paying real life money to buy in game assets. I think we all know this is going the route of Duke Nukem whenever.
