I do not trust Whatsapp to provide the security of a signal conversation. Who wants signal and WhatsApp to talk to each other ?
This is true. I’m a bit biased as that is what I would do. I’d say most users will not even notice. I think most of us here on lemmy are tech heads though and we would be the ones who do connect our phones to PC.
Unless it’s limited by hardware this will be a main cause for jailbreaking your iPhone.
I run N, I like it.
I disagree. If you consider a power user using PowerShell or terminal, then sure. But simple things on windows are more complex on Linux. Like installing a program, if you can do it through snap or apt get then great, still more complex for the average user compared to windows where you just download and click.
a failed desktop OS
Windows still has over 60% of desktop market share. You may not like it, but it isn’t a failed OS.
Guessing you spend a lot of time on XDA as well?
They will not outlaw VPNs. Every major company uses a form of VPN to allow workers to connect remotely. No chance this will happen.
For me it’s the lack of content that is killing Lemmy. It’s just not nearly as entertaining here as it was on Reddit. I know the community isn’t the same size so it isn’t comparable really, but it’s just the same content here day after day.
But how few people actually buy gold?
Might want to see if you can contact the devs for .world. They might be able to help you, it’s a strange issue you’re having.
You’d probably be happier on hacker news then mate, enjoy. https://news.ycombinator.com/
It was likely just a lie. Hacker groups often make claims they cannot backup, just for clout. If they had delivered on their promise we would have heard about it by now.
Lemmy.world is going through maintenance right now. I think it mostly finished yesterday though. Could have had something to do with it.
It is dumb when people downvote something helpful just because they disagree. I will keep using Reddit until Lemmy has as much knowledge on it as Reddit. I’ll use the browser before I’ll use the official app but at the end of the day Reddit has over a decade of good advice on niche topics and when I need to know something I’m still gonna check Reddit first. At least for the time being.
Finally. I’ve been more active over on .ml because of this. Glad you guys are reasonable and reversed the decision.
